Beauty// lips: Revlon colorburst lip pencils

With in the last 6 months or so, all of the Revlon colorburst lip balms have been released in Japan, with the exception of some colours.

Revlon currently have 3 different balms within their collection, the original balm stain, the matte balm and finally the lacquer balm. They currently retail at 1,200 yen.

These balms have shea, mango and coconut butter in them and have a slightly peppermint smell. They come in a chubby stick format, which means you don’t have to sharpen them.

I was really looking forward to this release because of the variety of colours and finishes. A lot of other companies have released similar products in the past but I’ve never been interested. All they had were boring colours and just ordinary glossy/sheer balm formulas. Dull.

Not these! They have a nice selection of colours, from bold to neutral in glossy (lacquer) , matte and stain finishes. So theres something for everyone. And the balms are easy to use and surprisingly moisturising, even the matte finish. I say surprisingly, as I still remember my excitement about Maybelline’s Babylip balms, and then my disappointment as they just added a layer of grease and didn’t moisturise my lips at all. I’m baffled as to why they still popular:S.

So Revlon balms…

The good?

great colour selections
great finishes
easy to use
I think you get a lot for your money
easy to find
The bad?

Not all of the colours are available in Japan…whyy?:( I really wanted to try the purple matte
The original balm stains packaging feels cheap and the writing has disappeared. (packaging for the other finishes are fine)
some people might dislike the peppermint scent
I currently have 4 of these.

The original balm stain in #40 (Rendezvous) , a lacquer in #15 (Hibiscus) and two matte in # 50 (Standout) and #20 (Showy).

From top to bottom: Hibiscus, Standout, Showy and Rendezvous.

Overall, I really love this product. To me, it combines variety, good quality and affordability in one package. Which is always something I’m looking for. Plus you get the added bonus that it moisturises too.

Have you tried these yet? Do you have a favourite balm plus colour product?

Thanks for reading and please leave a comment 🙂
