After seeing Aditi’s post about Rimmel Marshmallow look lipstick in #021, I couldn’t resist and had to pick it up.
The marshmallow look range by Rimmel is exclusive to Japan, and in all honesty I hadn’t ever really looked at this collection before, as I had thought the colour range was typical of Japan aka pale pink and nudes. Nothing wrong with that, but as you can clearly see in my lipstick challenge post, I like bold lipsticks.
Well, turns out I was wrong, the colour range for this collection is actually quite interesting.
#021 is a beautiful plum colour, the website describes it as a rich deep plum like ripened fruit- 熟した果実のようにリッチなディーププラム. It’s housed in a matte black coated aluminum casing, which makes the packaging feels luxiourous for a drug store brand.
Marshmallow look? What does that entail? The packaging claims creamy matte colour and a silky touch. Hmmm, creamy and matte? I’m always doubtful when I see those two word together. Moist and matte can work but creamy? Creamy to me is not matte, and this isn’t matte. Initially it reminders me of my Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick but it eventually dries down and has a similar finish to the Revlon Matte balms. So matte, with a little sheen and moisturised.
It’s priced at 1,300 yen and there are 12 colours to choose from.
What do you think? Have you tried anything from this collection?
